Noticing, Recognising, and Responding to Behaviour
Supporting and guiding young children’s behaviour through a positive guidance approach
Description
This course is designed for Educators who are interested in a positive guidance approach to support children engaging in behaviour that challenges those around them.
Participants will learn practical skills to notice triggering events, recognise the early warning signs, and identify the function driving the behaviour.
Finally, participants will discuss responding to children by exploring strategies to support them to regulate their own behaviour and learn new skills.
Part 1: Noticing
- In part one you will learn to approach behaviour with curiosity. This will cover exploring the causes of challenging behaviour to understand why children behave as they do.
Part 2: Recognise
- In part two we delve into recognising patterns of behaviour and identifying the four functions of behaviour.
Part 3: Responding
- In part three you will learn how to develop a simple behaviour plan. This will include how to respond before, during, and after an occurrence of challenging behaviour.
